The UK's Leading Independent Martial Arts Association

Safeguarding is non-negotiable.

At BMABA, safeguarding isn’t an optional extra. It’s the foundation of everything we do. As an award-winning national association for independent martial arts, we uphold some of the strictest safeguarding protocols in the sector. Every BMABA-registered club is required to meet rigorous standards around child protection, DBS checks, safeguarding qualifications and safe practice, with compliance monitored continuously and audited through our RegulationReady framework.

We maintain a dedicated, independent safeguarding function to handle concerns and reports from the public, parents and professionals. It’s led by qualified safeguarding professionals, operates in line with national frameworks including the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts, and ensures every concern is handled seriously, confidentially and with integrity.

If a child or adult is in immediate danger, call 999. Safeguarding concerns should never wait.

The Safeguarding Team

Everyone at BMABA CIC is trained to deal with safeguarding escalations, however we’re lucky to have a dedicated Safeguarding Unit made up of specialist trained colleagues. For any safeguarding concern, you should contact the Safeguarding Unit on safeguarding@bmaba.org.uk. We do not handle safeguarding concerns by phone. Our combined national safeguarding policy can be found here.
