Assistant instructors support the delivery of classes under the supervision of a qualified instructor. Use this register to confirm an assistant's registration and the checks their club has declared to us. Assistant instructors are not insured in their own right.

Every assistant instructor works under a named lead instructor who is responsible for supervising their teaching. You can look that lead instructor up on our National Register of Instructors to view their own membership status, qualifications and checks.

Suitability Vetting - What Does It Mean?

Suitability vetting reflects the audience an assistant instructor has declared they support. It is a declared setting, not a safety verdict. The checks shown on each record indicate what has been verified with BMABA.

• Children, At-Risk & Adults

Declared as supporting all audiences, including children and vulnerable adults. For this audience an Enhanced DBS check, safeguarding training, first aid, insurance (via their supervising instructor) and identity verification are expected.

• Adults Only

Declared as supporting non-vulnerable adults only. They should not be assisting with children or at-risk individuals under this status.

• Not Teaching

Declared as not currently assisting with classes or training. No checks are required while in this declared status.

• Pending

Has not yet declared their position. Until this is confirmed we cannot provide any assurance on their checks or readiness to assist.
