One Membership. Fewer Subscriptions. Lower Barriers.
Saving clubs more than the cost of membership by reducing subscriptions, simplifying systems, and bringing everything under one trusted, not for profit governing body.
A smarter way to support, insure, train and run your club
Most clubs do not need more tools. They need fewer, better ones.
BMABA exists to help clubs simplify, not overspend. For many clubs, membership is effectively cost neutral. Not because we ask you to give things up, but because our model helps replace or reduce subscriptions you may no longer need. That might be a website platform, a separate club management system, duplicated training costs, or accessing insurance and compliance support at commercial rates.
Because BMABA is a not for profit Community Interest Company, our focus is not on selling add ons or locking features behind paywalls. It is on using our scale to lower costs for clubs and reinvest value back into the martial arts community. Supporting more than 100,000 instructors, clubs and students each year allows us to provide professional tools, governance and infrastructure that would otherwise be out of reach for many grassroots organisations.
Our memberships bring together governance, safeguarding, CPD, insurance access, digital platforms, websites, domains and support into a single place, with one predictable renewal and no hidden charges. Clubs are free to keep using other providers if they wish, but many find that even partial adoption of our tools offsets the full cost of membership.
This is how the model works. Scale reduces cost. Credibility builds trust. Simplicity frees clubs to focus on teaching, not admin.
Regulated as a CIC. Independently audited to ISO9001 standards. Built by martial artists, for martial artists. Our mission is simple. Lower barriers to participation, champion clubs, and raise standards without raising costs.
One Membership. No Add Ons. No Paywalls.
BMABA memberships are priced upfront, annually or monthly, with clear access levels based on the membership you choose. There are no hidden charges, surprise upgrades, or paywalls introduced later. From £39.99 per year for Bronze membership, clubs gain access to a wide range of tools and support that would otherwise require multiple subscriptions, renewals and providers.
Some advanced resources are available at higher membership levels, not as a progressive unlock or upsell, but to ensure clubs of different sizes, needs and budgets can choose the level of support that fits them best. Everything is transparent from the outset, so clubs know exactly what is included before they join.
Because we are a not for profit Community Interest Company, savings do not come from cutting corners. They come from scale, reinvestment, and a mission to support clubs rather than monetise them. Every membership directly supports the reinvestment of resources back into UK martial arts.
What Running a Modern Club Really Costs
Most martial arts clubs rely on a growing stack of tools and services to operate properly. None of these are wrong choices. Many are excellent at what they do. The problem is that costs add up quickly, systems become fragmented, and administration time increases as clubs grow.
BMABA exists to solve a different problem. Not by replacing every specialist provider or forcing clubs into one way of working, but by reducing duplication and unnecessary cost. Our not for profit membership brings together the core things clubs must have anyway, including insurance access, safeguarding standards, CPD, governance, licensing oversight, digital tools, websites and compliance support. Clubs are free to keep using other platforms, but many find that adopting even part of what we offer reduces monthly outgoings while simplifying how their club is run.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Save More Than £2,000 By Reducing Un-Necessary Subscriptions
Many clubs find they save well over the cost of membership each year by consolidating just a handful of tools.
Example Cost Saving Scenarios
A growing local club with around 150–200 students
A club at this size often relies on a mix of paid services to run day to day. This might include a club management platform costing around £105 per month, a business website package at roughly £25 per month, and professional email accounts for three inboxes at about £14 per month combined. On top of this, safeguarding training may cost £30 plus VAT per person annually, first aid training around £36 per instructor including VAT, and design or content tools at approximately £20 per month. A domain name may add a further £20 per year.
Taken together, this kind of setup can easily total around £2,000 to £2,300 per year, before insurance, governance oversight or any developer support is factored in.
By consolidating core requirements such as website, digital tools, governance support, safeguarding frameworks and ongoing guidance through BMABA membership, many clubs find they can remove or reduce several of these recurring costs.
Approximate annual saving: £1,900 to £2,200
A larger club using revenue-based platforms
Some clubs use platforms that charge a percentage of turnover rather than a flat fee. For example, a club turning over £120,000 per year may be paying an 8 percent platform fee, equating to £9,600 annually, purely for access to core systems. This is often in addition to separate costs for a website, email hosting, training courses and compliance support.
BMABA does not operate on revenue share or percentage-based pricing. Membership costs are fixed, transparent and known in advance. While clubs are never required to leave other providers, many find that replacing even part of a revenue-based stack with BMABA’s included tools and support significantly reduces overheads.
Approximate annual saving: £5,000 to £9,000, depending on which services are consolidated
A new or small club building professional foundations
Start-up and small clubs often invest early in a professional website, domain, email accounts, safeguarding courses and basic admin tools. A modest setup might include £25 per month for a website, £10 to £15 per month for email, £20 per month for productivity tools, plus annual training costs for safeguarding and first aid. Even at the lower end, this can total £1,200 to £1,500 per year before insurance or specialist support is added.
BMABA membership is designed to reduce these early barriers. With one predictable fee, clubs gain access to essential infrastructure, guidance and support without needing to juggle multiple subscriptions or renewal dates.
Approximate annual saving: £1,100 to £1,400
The Important Bit;
Let’s be super clear – we are not telling clubs that BMABA is better than every provider, or that you should cancel all existing subscriptions and switch overnight. Many clubs already use excellent platforms, and if those tools work for you, we fully support that. BMABA exists to offer an alternative, not an ultimatum.
What we encourage instead is a test drive. Use our platforms, resources, training and support alongside what you already have. See for yourself where value overlaps, where duplication exists, and whether any of our tools can replace something you are currently paying for. If you decide to step away from a provider or unify a service under BMABA, that is where savings naturally begin to appear.
For example, a typical independent club might spend around £1,200 per year on a club management platform, £300 per year on a business website, £160 per year on email licences, £70 to £150 per year on safeguarding and first aid training, £240 per year on planning or collaboration tools, £360 per year on internal documentation systems, and around £20 per year on domain registration. That alone can exceed £2,400 per year, before insurance, licensing oversight, compliance support, or professional guidance are even considered.
BMABA membership starts at £39.99 per year. Everything else is included. There are no add ons, no feature paywalls, and no surprise renewals. Clubs are free to keep using any external services they value, but many find that by adopting even a small number of our core offerings, membership becomes cost neutral very quickly, and often cost saving.
Because BMABA is a not for profit Community Interest Company, savings are not generated by cutting corners or limiting access. They come from scale, reinvestment, and a commitment to lowering barriers for grassroots clubs. Any savings your club makes also help us continue to reinvest into safeguarding, standards, innovation and support across UK martial arts.
