BMABA Unveil New Lifetime Student Grade Register

As an association, our real-time instructor national records database has been so successful, it’s allowed us to secure Sport England’s approval to issue the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts when our clubs complete our internal Club Colours process. Performing more than one million checks against our records every month, our verification system keeps a public profile of every instructor, assistant and volunteer so the public can check for insurance, registration, DBS, first aid and more 24/7. There’s nothing quite like it in martial arts.

We’re now taking this one step further, with the unveiling of our LSGR (Lifetime Student Grade Register) due to go live on October 1st 2022. This new system will allow clubs to issue grades and record that issuance on either the MyBMABA instructor app or the MyBMABA website. When this is done, we’ll create a lifetime record of the grade in a publicly searchable database, so the student, parents and any other clubs can see and confirm the grade, style, venue, club, instructor and more in perpetuity. From our end, we’ll also store a secure copy of the grading certificate so any future challenges to the grading can be logged not only against the details submitted, but against the exact certificate too. This will ensure we can challenge any fraudulently issued documents, even if it’s 20 years later. The system will also allow for confirmation emails to be sent directly to the student or parents, as well as the club, to confirm the issuance alongside the national register.

Here’s how it will work…

  • Instructor Logs Grading
    STEP 1
  • Permanent Grade Record (PGR) Created
    STEP 2
  • Grade Linked To Student Licence To Identify Individual With New Grade
    STEP 3
  • Publicly Searchable Database Is Updated With Live Grade Record
    STEP 4

We’ll provide clubs with  tools and resources to demonstrate the life-time registration, including special holographic stickers and foils for certificates. We hope this will change the way students grade and progress in UK martial arts, creating real-value to grades issued by clubs.

This service will launch on October 1st for clubs.
