At BMABA CIC, we believe martial arts should leave a bigger legacy and a smaller footprint. That's why, alongside our social impact mission, we're committed to leading the martial arts community toward a more sustainable future. We're building one of the UK's first net-zero frameworks for martial arts, and while we work toward that goal we actively fund real, verifiable environmental projects on behalf of our member clubs.

Real Environmental Impact. Backed By Data.

Since 2020, we’ve partnered with Ecologi to fund reforestation, carbon avoidance and carbon removal projects around the world on behalf of our members. This isn’t greenwashing. Our impact is fully transparent and publicly trackable, down to the individual project.

So far, BMABA CIC has:

Funded 4,447 trees across verified planting projects worldwide
Avoided 242.31 tonnes of CO₂e through certified carbon avoidance projects
Removed 0.09 tonnes of CO₂e directly from the atmosphere
Restored 9m² of critical habitat

Shrinking Martial Arts' Environmental Footprint. For Good.

Martial arts has the power to change lives, but it shouldn’t cost the Earth. That’s why BMABA CIC is building one of the UK’s first net-zero frameworks for martial arts. Through verified global projects and transparent climate action, we’re helping clubs across the UK train with purpose while treading more lightly on the planet.

Reforestation

We fund tree planting across the UK and globally through Ecologi, helping restore critical forests and biodiversity. Every tree is sustainably planted and verified, from the Scottish highlands to mangroves in Madagascar.

Habitat Restoration

We contribute to the recovery of vital ecosystems, including wildflower meadows and wetlands in England. These projects support pollinators, water quality, and natural resilience, helping martial arts give back to the land it uses.

Carbon Removal

Going beyond avoidance, we fund carbon removal solutions like UK-based biochar initiatives, such as Carbon Hill in Cumbria, which lock carbon away from the atmosphere for hundreds of years.

Carbon Avoidance

From wind farms in Brazil to hydropower in Uganda and peatland protection in Thailand, we support certified carbon avoidance projects worldwide. These efforts stop emissions before they start, and have so far prevented more than 240 tonnes of CO₂e from ever reaching the atmosphere.

As we build toward our net-zero framework, we’re also developing the measurement behind it:

Surveying our members to understand the sector’s operational footprint
Modelling CO₂ impact per club, so our environmental funding can be scaled against the footprint our community creates
Publishing our results through our partners’ public dashboards, so clubs know their environmental impact is real
