Live Blade Cover Continuation Confirmed For 2023-24
After more than four months of negotiations with insurers, we’ve finally managed to reach an agreement in principle to roll forward BMABA’s live blade cover.
Initially set up some years ago, BMABA’s live blade cover provides access to some of the ‘rarest’ forms of cover available in UK martial arts. Namely, instructor and student public liability that includes live bladed weapons for permissible activities (such as test cutting and demonstrations). This form of cover has also been instrumental for many instructors needing to transport or import live bladed weapons for genuine martial arts activities.
Following the many numerous cost of living increases over the past twelve months, whilst our main insurance has increased in cost (the brunt of which we’re absorbing for our clubs) the expected rise for live bladed cover was substantial. The prior association’s dates also ran August to August, rather than April to April meaning we haven’t been able to renew clubs needing this type of cover during 2023 through fear of the cover discontinuing in August, but the club being insured for other liabilities through to April 2024.
Today’s decision means…
