Both are built for real classes, with practical steps you can use on the mats.
We also know not everyone wants to switch governing body — and that’s fine. We’ve always supported dual or multi-affiliation and actively encourage clubs with an applicable NGB to remain registered. Even so, more than 6,000 clubs and instructors already trust BMABA for professional affiliation.

Our Story
We started small — literally with £20 and a conviction that martial arts could be safer, fairer and better run. No investors, no shortcuts; just years of building practical tools for real clubs, listening to instructors, and fixing the things that hold grassroots martial arts back.
In 2025 we went further and locked our mission in: BMABA became a regulated Community Interest Company, transferring all assets into public benefit so every pound serves clubs and communities. Today our operations are independently audited to ISO 9001:2015 (via a UKAS-accredited body), we’re CPD Accredited, Cyber Essentials certified, ICO registered and on the UK Register of Learning Providers — because good intentions aren’t enough without governance.
We also built the infrastructure clubs needed but couldn’t find elsewhere: Regulation Ready and Club Colours — our live compliance and licensing frameworks used by 6,500+ instructors and clubs. They’re mapped to the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts (SCiMA) and uniquely allow eligible clubs to receive SCiMA certification directly through MyBMABA.
Our work is recognised nationally. BMABA has been referenced in Parliament and commended in writing by the UK Minister for Sport for raising safeguarding standards across independent martial arts. We’re core members of the Martial Arts Safeguarding Group (MASG) and members of the Sport & Recreation Alliance, Welsh Sports Association, Scottish Sports Association, Association of Child Protection Professionals, Children’s Rights Alliance, Anti-Bullying Alliance, and Sported. Alongside multiple national awards, our team is regularly called on by BBC, ITV and national press for credible sector insight.
